11 - Kaudulla National Park

On August 14, Jagath drove us north to visit a nature preserve. We had intended to visit Minneriya, where we had gone several years before, but Jagath learned that in nearby Kaudulla there was more water and we would see many more elephants. We trusted Jagath explicitly, so we let him decide. He found us a good driver, and we headed in. The jeep was comfortable, and the fees were very reasonable. There was plenty to see. Whenever our driver noticed something, he stopped and pointed it out. Some features and animals were easy to spot, We all saw the anthills, the giant squirrel, the hornets' nest, the chameleons, the eagle's nest, and the beautifully colored birds, but some of us never saw the crocodile!
