| The stupa had been enlarged with bricks about 250 years after its original construction, and again on two later occasions. The first and second stupas showed clear signs of having been opened. All evidence points to this being the original stupa built by the Liccavis and the relics within those of Buddha. Sadly, these sacred relics now languish somewhere in the dusty storerooms of the Patna Museum. | |||
