23 July, 2008
Dear All, The monks and novices began to observe 3 (three) months Vassa (Rainy Retreat) from 18th of July 2008 under the temporary shades at DHAMMA DIPA INTERNATIONAL BUDDHIST ACADEMY, in Tripura, INDIA. Reconstruction of Ruined Vihara is going on slowly due to rain and paucity of fund. The present fund position is shown below for your kind information and doing the needful please: FUND RECEIVED AND REQUIRED for Reconstruction of DHAMMA DIPA INTERNATIONAL BUDDHIST ACADEMY in Tripura, INDIA
I would like also to inform you that there was a mass protest at Jantar Mantar in NEW-DELHI yesterday staged out by the Buddhists from different parts of India against the Attack on Buddhism in Tripura (Burning down of Dhamma Dipa International Buddhist Academy) and Buddha Gaya Main Temple issue. It has attracted media attention and the Prime Minister will also be given a representation today on the same issue. It has turned into a national issue now. The President of India also informed us that the matter had been communicated to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for necessary action and we have to get in touch with Home Ministry. All these days we kept quite, and nobody is paying any attention as if nothing has happened. But some Buddhists feel that such attack on Buddhism should not let go unnoticed. We also have taken an appointment with the Governor of Tripura to submit a MEMORANDUM on the 25th July 2008 and apprise him about the 24th June Fire Incident and seek His kind-cooperation. We will be very grateful if the World Buddhist Community come forward to help us for Reconstruction of the ruined Vihara fully and make this Buddhist Academy project a success in order to protect and promote Buddha Sasana in Tripura, INDIA. Be Happy! |
