| Part of the inscription states, "The Sangha cannot be split. Whoever, whether monk or nun, splits the Sangha must be made to wear white clothes and live somewhere other than in a monastery." It was probably issued by Ashoka just after the Third Council when schismatic monks and nuns were expelled from the Sangha. | |||
