Bodhirukaramaya in Kurunegala is the monastery where Venerable Amilasiri is caring for many elderly monks. In addition to being a hospice for elderly monks, Bodhirukaramaya is also a haven for novices, including Ven. Patmasiri, the little novice recovering from heart surgery. The samaneras all study at a nearby pirivena (Bhikkhu Training Centre) but at present, there is no proper accommodation for them; instead they stay in a haphazard fashion, crowded into several old buildings. For several years, Venerable Amilasiri has been hoping to build a new residence hall for novices on a suitable plot of land at one side of the monastery. A well-known Sri Lankan architect drew up plans free of charge, and a qualified engineer donated her time to compile the Bill of Quantities for the construction of this dormitory to accommodate twenty novices. The costs for materials and labor are estimated at about ten million rupees (US$90,000). If you would like to assist in this project, all donations, large or small, are welcome. Buddhist Relief Mission will receipt all contributions, Ven. Amilasiri will be informed of all donors, and progress will be regularly reported. In Sri Lanka donations may be made via Commercial Bank: Internationally, donations may be made via PayPal: In either case, please send an email with the details of your donation. |
