The price of the land is 1,500,000 rupees. Buddhist Relief Mission has received from donors a total of 1,196,000 rupees. Sadhu! Sadhu!! Sadhu!!! Only $2000 more is needed.
On Saturday, October 7, we visited the construction site of the new monastery for the elderly monks of Bodhirukarama. It was raining, so we were not able to meet any workers, but the construction is well underway. Ven. Amilasiri expects the building to be completed by December. The large photos at the right is a created panorama , so the perspective is not accurate. The three bottom photos show the site in June before cnstruction began. This new monastery will accomodate only the elderly monks. Ven. Amilasiri will maintain Bodhirukarama in Kurunegala as a residence for the novices who are studying at the pirivena. At this new site, water is plentiful all year round, so it is a much better location for the hostel. As far we know, this is the only center in Sri Lanka designed specifically for the care of elderly monks.
